1.4 +General Information
1.5 +===================
1.6 +
1.7 +GMythStream (GMS) is a transcoder server developed in python. It makes live
1.8 +transcode of any input video and streams it via HTTP. The media player opens
1.9 +an HTTP uri informing the input video location and the desired muxer/video/audio
1.10 +formats. The GMS server parses this url and starts to transcode the input video
1.11 +using one of the transcode plugins: gmencoder or mencoder. The transcoder output
1.12 +is sent to the media player via the HTTP connection.
1.13 +
1.14 +The client can also request transcode progress and the files already transcoded
1.15 +and stored in the server. GMS is currently hardly used as a live transcoder for
1.16 +mythtv content (recorded videos and livetv).
1.17 +
1.18 +GMS is free software, licensed under the GNU GPL.

1.34 +How to report bugs
1.35 +==================
1.36 +
1.37 +Bugs should be reported to the GMyth SourceForge bug tracking system.
1.38 +(http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=177106&atid=879914.)
1.39 +
1.40 +In the bug report please include:
1.41 +
1.42 +* Information about your system. For instance:
1.43 +
1.44 + - GStreamer version
1.45 + - Available GStreamer plugins (run gst-inspect with no arguments)
1.46 +
1.47 + And anything else you think is relevant.
1.48 +
1.49 +* Before you report a bug, it will be useful to know if GStreamer works.
1.50 + If you have playback issues, try running this command:
1.51 +
1.52 + $ gst-launch-0.10 playbin uri="file:///path/to/my/musicfile.ogg"
1.53 +
1.54 + Just replace /path/to/my/musicfile.ogg with some sound file in this command
1.55 + above.
1.56 +
1.57 +* How to reproduce the bug.
1.58 +
1.59 +* If the bug was a crash, the exact text that was printed out when the
1.60 + crash occured, and a trace (which can be obtained by using gdb or bug-buddy).
1.61 + See http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on getting
1.62 + stack traces.
